Everything you need to know about pre-installation requirements.

Please review the below information to better understand the process of purchasing a new appliance and our expectations in order to streamline the process.

  • Double check your measurements to ensure your dishwasher will fit with your cabinetry — depth, width, and height. Most dishwashers require 24 1/2″ or 18″ for condo size. The appliance installation manual will provide you with exact dimensions.
  • Ensure there is a valve attached to the hot water line and that there is a drain for the dishwashers discharge water.
  • Locate the outlet or electrical wire and check that it is long enough to reach the front right side of the cabinet opening.
Existing

Ensure the existing water valve is functioning. If there is no valve or water supply line please refer to New, below.

New
  • Double check your measurements to ensure your refrigerator will fit — depth, width, and height. The appliance installation manual will provide you with exact dimensions.
  • Is your refrigerator connected to your sink by cabinetry? Great! If not there are two options:
    1. Is there a bathroom backing on to the wall connected to the refrigerator? We may be able to connect to this cold water line.
    2. Is the basement directly under the kitchen? Is it unfinished? If you answered yes to both we can connect to a cold water line from your basement.
  • If none of these options apply to you, you will need to locate a cold water line by cutting into your walls, work with a contractor, or ceilings or look at a refrigerator without a water feature.
  • Ensure both the ventilation and electrical are in the proper locations.
Freestanding, Gas, Slide-in
  • Double check your measurements to ensure your dryer will fit — depth, width and height. The appliance installation manual will provide you with exact dimensions.
  • Locate the plug. If the plug sticks out from the wall, check the specs of your model to make sure it wont push the range out. You may need to relocate the plug.

Gas
  • Clearance is especially important with gas models. There must be a minimum 30″ clearance from the range top to the bottom of the hood fan. There is also a cabinet clearance — refer to your manual.
  • Make sure your gas piping is up to code for the unit that you are installing. If it is not up to code we may need to “red tag” the line, shut the gas off to the appliance indefinitely, or charge to replace it as part of the installation.
  • Ensure the gas shut-off is accessible.
  • Ensure the gas line is in the correct location in regards to your model’s specifications. If the gas line is not in the correct location we can move it for you at an additional cost.
Electric, Gas
  • Double check your measurements to ensure your cooktop will fit with your cabinetry — depth, width, and height. The appliance installation manual will provide you with exact dimensions.
  • Check that your electrical junction box is accessible and not in a way that could interfere with a proper and flush installation.
  • Make sure that the electrical wire supplied is in accordance with the specifications of your new unit.
